"In a day the mind can make a
millpond
of an ocean."
Jeanette Winterson, Sexing the Cherry
Writing is about finding your inner voice, the key to any project you choose to explore. At each workshop you will learn the techniques to write with
power and passion in your own
voice, regardless of genre.
Exercises draw on the sounds, scents, tastes of Provence to tune up your senses. Wheather you are writing poetry, prose or memoir, these "prompts" will add depth and focus to your writing. Where you go from there is up to you.
You may choose to create a journal, begin a memoir, revisit a work in progress, write a poem or short story,
or move ahead with that novel. Individual attention, supportive critiques,
and discussion.
Join our Reader's Circle guided by an American author and journalist and engage in the dialogue that animated the salons of Enlightenment and the lyceums of 19th century France. English speaking books are easily ordered on-line. Exchange viewpoints and ideas, and enjoy a lovely Greoux locale.

Writing taught by Judith Reitman. She is the Founder and Chairwoman of the Expat Club of Provence as well as the teacher for the Writing Workshop. A former New Yorker now married to a Frenchman, she is an award-winning journalist, author of non-fiction books, and has been an instructor and Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. "The idea for this club came about during my first winter in Provence when I realized that life as an expat required significant cultural adjustments. Working creatively has helped me make that transition into French life. I believe the arts can bring people together and help people on a personal level understand their new culture."
